TURTLE:
Turtle, order Testudines, any reptile with a body encased in a bony shell, including tortoises. Although numerous animals, from invertebrates to mammals, have evolved shells, none has an architecture like that of turtles. The carapace and plastron are bony structures that usually join one another along each side of the body, creating a rigid skeletal box.
Because the shell is an integral part of the body, they cannot exit it, nor is the shell shed like the skin of some other reptiles. There are approximately 356 species of them living on land in all continents except Antarctica and in both salt water and fresh water.
Tortoises family Testudinidae live exclusively on land and have anatomic features distinguishing them from other turtles, but the term tortoise has long been used to refer to other terrestrial testudines as well, such as the box turtle and the wood turtle .
There are turtles with carapace lengths (the standard way to measure of less than 10 cm 4 inches, as in the flattened musk turtle Sternotherus depressus, and of more than 1.5 metres 4.9 feet, as in the leatherback sea turtle Dermochelys coriacea.
Some species live in seasonally cold climates with growing seasons of only about three months; others live in the tropics and grow year-round.
Some tortoises rarely see water, while other of them spend virtually their entire lives in it, be it in a single small pond or traveling the vast open ocean.
SEA TURTLE:
these are expansive, air-breathing reptiles that occupy tropical and subtropical oceans all through the world. Their shells consist of an upper part carapace and a lower section plastron.
Hard scales or scutes cover all but the leatherback, and the number and arrangement of these scutes can be used to determine the species.Sea turtles come in many different sizes, shapes and colors.
The olive ridley is usually less than 100 pounds, while the leatherback typically ranges from 650 to 1,300 pounds! The upper shell, or carapace, of each of them species ranges in length, color, shape and arrangement of scales. They do not have teeth, but their jaws have modified “beaks” suited to their particular diet.
They do not have visible ears but have eardrums covered by skin. They hear best at low frequencies, and their sense of smell is excellent.
Thousands of sea turtles around the world have been tagged to help collect information about their growth rates, reproductive cycles and migration routes. After decades of considering ocean turtles, much has been learned.
However, many mysteries still remain .Researchers do not yet know how long baby turtles spend in the open sea, or exactly where they go.
It is theorized that they spend their earliest, most vulnerable years floating around the sea in giant beds of sargasso weeds, where they do little more than eat and grow. Once they reach dinner-plate size, they appear at feeding grounds in nearshore waters.
SNAPPING TURTLE:
They’re the heavily clad tanks of the common world. With their mighty jaws and muscular build, They are Canada’s largest freshwater turtle. there weigh up to 16 kilograms and usually grow to 20 to 36 centimetres in shell length but occasionally up to 50 centimetres long.
This robust species has a ridged, thick upper shell carapace, which is tan, olive or black, and a long, studded tail. Its bottom shell (plastron) is small compared to that of other of them species, leaving the snapping turtle’s limbs and neck exposed.
The snapping turtle is incapable to completely withdraw into its shell when undermined, which is why it snaps its jaws as a defense against predators.
In Canada, this species is found from southeastern Saskatchewan to Nova Scotia. these are still fairly common in eastern Canada, but less so in the Prairies.
They can live over 70 years, and only reach sexual maturity at 15 to 20 years of age. As a result, any loss of mature individuals — in particular, egg-laying females — can impact the population.
Roadside nests are at risk of being destroyed by traffic, and eggs and hatchlings are also vulnerable to being eaten by other animals.
ALLIGATOR SNAPPING TURTLE:
These are characterizing characteristics are its huge head, solid jaws and snared bill. It has a spiked, dark-brown carapace. Alligator snapping turtles have long, narrow tongues equipped with an appendage that looks like a worm to attract prey. Algae growing on these turtles’ backs lends camouflage among the muddy river beds they inhabit.
Males can weigh up to 90 kilograms (200 pounds) with a carapace length of up to 80 centimeters 31 inches. Croc snapping turtles are local to the southern Joined together States.
Genetic analyses revealed that there are three genetically distinct subpopulations of there, residing in the greater Mississippi River watershed, the Gulf coastal rivers east of the Mississippi River and the Suwannee River drainage system in Florida.
They can stay submerged for 40 to 50 minutes before needing to surface for air. They are only found in freshwater systems and tend to prefer the deeper beds of large rivers, canals and lakes. However, juveniles may be found in smaller streams. These are primarily carnivorous.
They eat angle and other oceanic creatures, but have too been known to eat little warm blooded animals and a few vegetation.
These turtles are most dynamic at night and will rummage or seek for nourishment. When hunting, these ambush predators stay motionless in the water and reveal the worm-like appendage on their tongues to lure unsuspecting prey.
THE RED TURTLE:
The Red Turtle So when “The Red Turtle” eventually becomes a story about a man, a magical reptile woman, and their life together, it doesn’t feel strange. these two characters care about each other because they eventually realize that they not only aren’t enemies, but are two people who happen to share the same world.
There’s something amazing about that kind of bond, something that I absolutely did not expect from a children’s film characters growing to like each other and solve problems together based on a mutual appreciation of their surroundings begins as a “Robinson Crusoe”-style man vs. nature-style narrative, a mode that viewers should be comfortable and/or familiar with.
You know this story a man arrives on an island and must, through sheer force of conviction and ingenuity, rescue himself by creating shelter, foraging for food, and building a raft to escape.
The main difference between this type of story and the one that “The Red Turtle” eventually becomes is that there’s always something that’s entreating or trying to catch the viewer’s eye, whether it’s blessedly un-anthropomorophosized crabs, or a forest of gently swaying bamboo shoots.
There is subsequently a subtle tension at play at the beginning of the film the island’s personality asserts itself even as we are encouraged to get caught up in our hero’s captivating routine of building a raft, trying and repeatedly failing to escape, daydreaming while gazing at the moon, and then inevitably repeating this makeshift procedure.
The offer is still valid.
